Planning the Ultimate Girl Day
Uni life is about to start again, and with it, I will be entering a somewhat really stressful time, since I’m not only gonna be writing my bachelor’s thesis but also retaking some classes and starting a new job. Honestly, I get overwhelmed by the sheer thought of it and already dread it. Well, if there’s no way around it, you gotta go right through it, I suppose. I can, however, set myself up for success by preparing a little beforehand. Of course, I could already be studying like crazy… but other than the odd scientific literature reading session, I haven’t managed to get much done. But there’s something else to prepare for, too: leisure! That’s my favourite part, actually ^^
Thus, let’s come up with the ultimate curated girl day for when I just need to completely shut off and calm down in a sea of craziness. Bonus points if those dates have set days in the calendar.
Let’s Plan!
Morning
-
Get my phone away from me
I simply can’t help but keep smombieing all day when I’m stressed. Thus, the only way to prevent that: give the phone to someone else the night before. This way, it’s gonna be out of reach right upon waking up!
-
Wake up with my destined fall-time candle
The right smell for relaxation is gonna set the mood for the whole day.
-
Take time to make a good, healthy breakfast
I just know I’m gonna be horrible at keeping up with healthy foods… so taking the time when I have it is gonna feel like proper self-care.
Daytime
After my very much needed and mandatory morning walk, it’s time for bed! And by that, I mean anime in bed. I better prepare a good selection. If I’m lucky, my partner is gonna set up the TV for me in my bedroom, so I can watch my shows there while lounging and then switch right to gaming afterwards.
That brings me to my second point: lots of time for calm games. Other than Infinity Nikki (my love, always), I’ve been craving Cozy Caravan lately. I started playing it last winter when I was sick for a long time, but didn’t really pick it up afterwards. That’s definitely a blunder on my part.
As for lunch plans, on a day for proper relaxation, spending the entire time cooking is also a no-go, so I better save my takeout budget and order something nummy! My perfect comfort food, which somehow always manages to relax me and calm me down, is any kind of Vietnamese pho. Ramen is good, too, but that’s rarely offered for takeout in my area. Thus: one meal cooked for breakfast, one ordered for lunch, and for my last meal of the day, perhaps something ready-made but not too unhealthy. I might also splurge on a fun drink and protein bar as a treat.
One more condition, so to say, is making time for at least one hour of something creative. Arts and crafts truly are my number one source of self-care, something sheet masks or little treats could never fulfil. Somehow, it is exceedingly difficult for me, however, to settle down and get creative in times of stress. Setting a time and day can help me with that, at least somewhat.
Evening
In the evening, I can see myself in dire need of a long, steamy bath. And what better way to round out the day than with candles, scented bath water, and my favourite outrun playlist?
Finally, my usual bedtime routine, with some online gaming with friends and an episode of a comfy show shared on the couch with my partner.
And voilà:
Perfection.
