The days of 40-degree heatwave torture are over! No longer is it necessary to reduce all clothing items to an absolute minimum and lather every inch in sunscreen. I am overjoyed by these current developments, and my excitement for cooler days is building steadily.
This development has prompted my inner fashionista to start working on a lovely curation of outfits suitable for the pre-/early-fall season, when temperatures and life events hit that sweet spot of creating perfect styling conditions.
Some of my looks have turned out especially nice and somehow convey to me exactly my vibe for the season.
What intrigues me most about fall fashion (apart from the obvious autumn and mushroom-related imagery) is that it’s not really about single pieces, clean looks, or body types. Neither does it require the sheer amount of bulk and ensuing overstimulation of a winter wardrobe.
Fall fashion is all about styling!
For someone who adores everything layering, accessorizing, mixing, and matching, that is where the true soul of self-expression in clothing lies.
In this post, I want to share some of my favourite looks with you, but also talk about items, elements, and techniques that I’ve been enjoying at the moment. I’ve been trying hard to be as creative as possible with my looks and pieces, and come up with ideas that feel like me and have a sense of uniqueness and novelty.
I’ve also incorporated some things I’ve seen and loved that I think go so well with fall fashion.

Scarves, Scarves, Scarves
This is somehow always in style. Probably because it’s just so practical to have something warm for the neck, but also a way of adding to an outfit.
In the runway show of Chloé for Fall 2026, I’ve seen some very interesting scarf styling too, which inspired me to put the various colourful or generally interesting pieces in my wardrobe to good use and display them properly.
Ways I’ve found I enjoy styling a scarf:
- Long skinny scarves
- Tie the scarf into a bow
- Place scarves and kerchiefs around the hips to add a swish and exaggerate the hips
- Tie light scarves to belts, chokers, or clothing straps
- Use scarves as belts
I probably did a bunch more that I can’t remember anymore, but these are some of my favourites.
Whimsigoth & Witchy Layers
A style that resonates with me a lot because it brings together elements of celestial imagery, velvet, silk, rich warm and dark colours, shimmering accents, and a bunch of layering is something along the lines of whimsigoth / witchy outfits.
Many, many of the pieces in my wardrobe work for this, and I adore how easy it is to make them look good together while styling something that actually keeps me warm.
The style is also somewhat of a natural evolution if natural, fantasy, and magical elements are in your forte. Thus, I’ve created two lookbook boards that convey sides of this style that I’ve really loved expressing.
One for the more warm, jewel-toned, and purplish kind of outfits, and the other one compiling my favourite pre-fall-appropriate celestial looks.
A Very Colorful Twee Comeback

The other direction I’ve been leaning towards this year, approaching fall in particular: some form of very colourful twee comeback.
After so many years of muted tones, I’ve gotten sick of bland, bleak, colourless clothes. I just can’t do it anymore.
Please just give me colour back into my life. I promise I’ll never cast it away again.
This kind of more colourful dressing and styling has me in a chokehold, and I shamefully admit that I have consuuuumed…
I’ve been thrifting so many Desigual and vintage pieces, often just for the colours. (I also happen to genuinely really enjoy the styles and have rediscovered many teenage brands from when I really got into Vinting.)
Now finally I can confidently say that I have reconnected with colourful styling and, in my opinion, successfully integrated it back into my life.
I also very much enjoy the quirkier aspects of this fashion movement and think that maybe people are not as afraid of being cringe anymore.
And honestly? Good.
Big Statement Jewellery
Leaning more into the character-design aspect of styling, I have come to love a good, relatively simple piece of accessory.
I’ve never been much of a dainty jewellery (or dainty anything, that is) type girl, and nowadays I really try to lean into utilizing a large, often very simply shaped pendant, brooch, or anything along those lines.
My closet doesn’t really provide much jewellery of that sort, but during my clay-crafting endeavours, I’ve managed to create some stunning little charms that I now wear night and day.
They also come in very handy if I want to repeat a colour pop I used somewhere else in the outfit to tie everything together.
I’m really happy to be in possession of a good selection, and I strive to further expand my arsenal at every flea market and garage sale I get to.
I’m also considering tying some of my crystals to a necklace to get even more plentiful charms and pendants to wear. I love a mixed-media type jewellery stack, so alternating materials and types could be cool.
Miori Key
The most gorgeous evolution of goblin/fairy-core styles you could think of.
Japanese fashion has always been a realm of mystical aptitude for fashion sense that I can only hope to one day grasp. Nevertheless, just trying my best and playing around with visual inspiration from this fashion movement has already given me much enjoyment.
I just can’t leave my very nature-loving, woodsy side behind when it comes to fall fashion. And what would be better suited for mushroom hunting than a full green fairy beat?
The ultra-layered and flowy way of putting together clothes is just so beautiful to me.
Keychains on Everything!
Ever since the Labubu craze, I’ve seen little bag charms absolutely everywhere.
This is literally the best, but I like to take it even further.
I have so many keychains that I’ve either hand-crafted or gotten at cons from small indie artists that I just adore displaying. I feel like it’s where personality really shines through.
And if it’s even a good match for the general outfit?
Slap it on there!
I normally attach them to pockets, belt hooks, belts, general loops and straps, and sometimes pin them to clothing.
There are so many little ways to add something weird, cute, colourful, or completely unnecessary to an outfit, and I love that.
Bows. Still.
Lastly, something that I don’t think is ever not gonna be a part of my style:
I’m not over bows yet.
I can’t leave them be, and I love having them in my hair, but most of all in unexpected places.
They kind of just go with my style, and I have a good variety of colours and all that to pick from.
Especially centred around the neck area, they give me a very dressy feel that reminds me of a proper bowtie.
And yes, I will continue putting bows where bows probably don’t need to be.
So… What’s Next?
I’m already wondering how my style is gonna evolve until next fall.
I feel myself leaning towards very expressive fashion at the moment and wonder if I’m gonna expand on that even further in the coming months or rather reduce it again…
It’s always a surprise to look back on past outfits for me and see how I have evolved. What my interests, likes, and dislikes were back then.
That’s why I love this opportunity to put down my thoughts and pictures and save them to look at later on.
It really is a journey through my inside world, as much as my outside presence.
