Hello, Internet

Hello out there, hello internet and endless void of robopeople and echo chambers. Hello you who are sitting somewhere out there, reading a stream of letters that coincidentally portrays my everyday inner monologue. Today, I am looking for a place to put some things from my life, my brain and sometimes my memories into words and store away in this digital diary right here. That ol’ chatterbox o’ mine just keeps producing new words and goes on and on and on. RIP Oliver Tree. For a long time I’ve had the feeling that some of my thoughts would be best enjoyed in company. Unfortunately, I rarely get the chance to monologue about all those random and very specific topics that I write about, often daily, on paper, on my phone, or just prattle on about in my head. Since this is literally the time in the world in which just sharing your mind and putting a thought or two out there for the most random strangers to enjoy has never been easier… so, this is what I decided on: a blog, the old-school internet way of telling everyone who cares, and likely even more who don’t, about anything and everything.

Creativity, Crafts & DIY

For now I am looking for a space to share my interests and hobbies. I absolutely love anything creative, ranging from poetry slam to portraits, grazing over painting, scrapbooking and taking pictures, over to the wonderful realm of DIY. Yes, this is where I am at home. Be it cosplay props or accessories, little trinkets and decor or even very practical home items, I love them all! If you’re wondering what to expect, other than absolute stream-of-consciousness rambles about the life of a young adult woman, you can be sure to find a plethora of DIY ideas and guides here.

Fashion & Style

Another area I am really passionate about is fashion and styling. Even though I’m still in a finding phase, I’ve been drawn to beautiful fashion and outfits as well as general character design my whole life — I even sold my entire life’s worth of data for some premium currency in a dress-up game once when I was a kid and obsessed with those. Today I still am, but I like to pay with actual money (which tbh as a broke student I still don’t really have) for my dress-up games. Infinity Nikki, I love and hate you at the same time. As you can see, I digressed a bit over there — also something to expect. As for the topic of fashion, I’m still learning how to properly style my admittedly magnificent wardrobe and more so even to pose in it and take pictures. If you’re ready to buckle up and come along on the style journey with me, you might enjoy my little personal lookbooks and styling that I’m gonna put here. Let’s discover and refine together until we really find our fashion sense. Much in this area of topics is gonna relate to thrifting, upcycling and DIY-ing as well. Although I don’t properly sew (yet), I am known to pimp my style with lots of self-made elements and personalize throughout. I’m also deeply in love with all things vintage fashion and thrifting. I think there’s nothing better than to give clothes a new life before they land in a landfill and pollute our planet.

The Witchy, Woodsy Side

Here’s another thing about me which you are probably soon to discover: I am absolutely confident I am part druid, part witch and part hobgoblin-esque bog dweller. Since my earliest days you could find me knee-deep in mud, hay or a forest’s deep green moss carpet. I love the natural world with all its wonders, its changing nature, slimy, colorful mushrooms and all the absurd things us people like to do within it. I live close to a forest that keeps on giving me joy all year round and I am a big outdoor activity doer. In the spirit of a true hobbit, I like to wander the fields and woods, ideally cloaked or wearing a trusty mushroom-embroidered jacket, and to collect whatever goodies it has to offer. As a lifetime forager who learned from a biologist father what’s good and what isn’t for eating, collecting or crafting, you will be faced with footage of mushroom hunts and wildlife observation tours. In a good year, I even round up a few freaky friends for a fantasy hike in a wild part of German Bavaria. Fully enrobed in our finest fantastical garb.

Games, Cosplay & the Digital Realm

In contrast to this side of me, I have also discovered a great passion for the digital space, enjoying video games, cyberpunk aesthetics and space, along with anime, manga and of course cosplay. I love going to conventions just as much as browsing renfaires, and it could happen that you spot me, back to back on a weekend, dressed as a hobbit one day and a cyber ninja the next. I don’t think it’s a bad thing to have loads of contrasting hobbies, and I also think they fit together in more ways than you’d think, the overarching theme being creativity. So I’ll be sure to write here about some gaming content I enjoy, maybe even share things that I made myself with friends. I’ll also post about some convention trips and share some parts of my life in those areas.

Come Along

If you’re down for any of these topics, be sure to tag along for the ride and maybe you’ll even discover something new entirely. Or be astounded by my 180s when I discover something entirely new again, hyperfocus on that for a good while and maybe drop it after some months when I feel ready to cycle through one of my many hobbies again. Anyways, whoever you are, if you’re interested in the same things as me, want to have some good old slow-format content to maybe start enjoying the internet again, and are just a kind soul looking to connect, I’d really love to have you here and take you on this adventure that my 20s have turned out to be.
